Natural Stone Wall Panels & Cladding — Lightweight, Flexible, Real Stone
Sketch Australia's stone wall panels are 100% natural stone veneer — a 1–2mm layer of real slate, marble, sandstone or travertine bonded to a flexible backing. You get the authentic texture and colour variation of quarried stone at roughly 1/10th the weight of traditional stone cladding, in large panels that bend around curves and corners.
Because the panels are lightweight, they install over plasterboard, render, brick, tile or cement sheet with standard adhesive — no structural support, no stonemason, no wet trades. That makes them the practical choice for feature walls, fireplaces, kitchen splashbacks, bathrooms, facades and commercial fitouts, indoors and out. New to this material? Start with our complete stone cladding guide for Australia.
Why choose flexible stone panels over traditional stone cladding
Real natural stone — every panel is unique, unlike faux or printed panels. Lightweight (approx. 1.5kg per standard panel) vs 30–60kg/m² for traditional cladding. Flexible backing bends around columns and curved walls. Install directly over existing surfaces with adhesive. Fire-retardant and waterproof — see our test reports and fire rating. Interior and exterior rated.
Stone Wall Panel FAQs
Are these real stone or fake stone panels?
Real. Each panel carries a genuine layer of natural slate, marble or sandstone — the pattern and texture come from the quarry, not a printer. If you're comparing "faux stone panels", ours are the natural-stone alternative at a similar weight.
Can stone wall panels be used outside?
Yes. The panels are waterproof and UV-stable and are used on facades, exterior feature walls and outdoor kitchens across Australia. See our exterior gallery.
How do they compare to traditional stone cladding?
Traditional cladding is 20–50mm thick, needs mechanical fixing and often engineering sign-off. Our thin stone panels deliver the same face at a fraction of the weight and cost, with adhesive installation. Full comparison in the stone cladding guide.
Can I install them myself?
Most DIYers can. Panels cut with an angle grinder or heavy-duty knife and fix with construction adhesive. See the installation guide.
What sizes do the panels come in?
Standard sheets are 2440mm × 1220mm, with smaller formats and sample packs available so you can check the finish in your own light before ordering.
